Our business was among the early mobile DJ companies in the Bay Area. Founded by DJ owner Mark Hester Power in 1978, it originally operated as Marin Mobile Disco. In the 1980s, the name changed to Marin Mobile Music Co. After training additional DJs and expanding services across the Bay Area, the company became known as Goodtime DJs & Karaoke. We currently operate with a small in-house DJ team and work with a select group of independent partner DJs.
Mark Bio
Mark wanted to be a DJ from the time he was 10 years old and studied communications and broadcasting at San Francisco State University. Mark’s DJ journey began in the mid-1970s after seeing a mobile DJ perform. Inspired, he bought his first mixer and placed an ad in a local newspaper, landing his first events a Rainbow Girls Installation, a Sweet 16, and a 50th birthday celebration. From the start, he focused on understanding each client’s music preferences and planning every event with care. Over the years, he has built a professionally curated music collection spanning multiple genres and eras. For any special song requests outside his library, advance notice helps ensure availability and smooth expectations. In addition to being the founder and head DJ of Goodtime DJs, Mark is also a singer, entertainer, vocal impersonator, and singing impressionist. For weddings and receptions, Mark offers a hybrid DJ and live vocal performance option, singing as much or as little as requested while providing full DJ services.
